ABOUT: BILL BOURNE

Bill BourneCritics have called him a national treasure, an iconoclast and a master folk musician.  He is the founder of Bourne & MacLeod and a Juno Award winning Canadian singer- songwriter. The great grandson of Icelands' Poet Laureate, Stefan G. Stefansson, he grew up in rural Alberta listening to his parents play old time music.

His first recognition came in the 1980's when he did a three year stint with Scotlands' Tannahill Weavers.  A desire to move on to his own material prompted the formation of Bourne & MacLeod and the release of the ground breaking, Juno Award Winning LP "Dance & Celebrate".

A second Juno nominated Bourne & MacLeod album, "Moonlight Dancers", followed.  He then released two critically acclaimed CD's with Edmonton violinist/fiddler Shannon Johnson - "Dear Madonna" in 1994, and "Victory Train" (which was also nominated for a Juno) in 1996.

Blue Streak Records brings you two Bill Bourne CDs - a solo project - "Farmer, Philanthropist & Musician" and the collaborative traditional country blues project, Bourne, Schuld & Stamer - "No Special Rider"

"A fiercely independent musician, Bill Bourne has and continues to create his own niche in an overloaded musical world".
