Genevieve (Gigi) Marentette has established herself as one of Toronto’s most recognizable and illustrious vocalists. “She has always had the type of voice and stage presence that mesmerizes an audience and is simply one of Canada’s finest singers.” - Says Jaymz Bee (JAZZFM.91). Gigi spent 8 years in Asia and Europe and since her return to Toronto has released an EP produced by George Koller and worked with David Clayton-Thomas, Don Thompson, The Order Of Canada Band & Jane Siberry. Genevieve is known for her fearless approach to interpretation and has an extensive background in Brazilian, World, Blues, and Jazz. She is also one of the producers of the Kensington Market Jazz Festival and is currently working on several recording projects, including a tribute to the late great actor and singer Don Francks, who described her as “a lovely muse of music...a femme fatale from film noir...jazz improvisation at it's honest little girl with a great sense of humour that the world's been waiting for.” Gigi likes to make every performance unique and spontaneous, with exciting combinations of the finest musicians and diverse repertoire.
