Journalism in the Time of Fake News: Mainstage event with Carol Off and Raffy Boudjikanian

Traditionally, the job of a journalist is to report the news in a truthful, unbiased, apolitical way. Is this still possible in a world where no truth seems absolute and politics is perception? On April 14th, join gritLIT, award-winning reporters Carol Off and Raffy Boudjikanian on our main stage as they discuss the challenges posed to professional journalists by alternative facts, fake news and the emergence of social media as a news platform. Moderated by Hamilton Spectator Editor-in-Chief Paul Berton.

About gritLIT

gritLIT is Hamilton’s annual literary festival, a four-day celebration of Canadian authors. Since its inception in 2004, the festival has built a reputation with readers in the Golden Horseshoe as a place to get “up close and personal” with their favourite authors and to discover new voices.
