Run Maggie Run

"Hamilton-based indie-alt group Run Maggie Run is set to celebrate the release of their first new track since their debut album back in May 2017 with a release party at The Casbah on May 18th, with support from indie-folkers Long Range Hustle (additional support TBA).
Formed in late 2015 in Hamilton, Ontario, Run Maggie Run began as a small solo project for singer/rhythm guitarist Gavin Rees. Named for a bittersweet childhood memory, that nostalgic, rose-tinted sadness was abundantly clear in the first solo EP Rees recorded by himself in his basement, prior to the forming of the band.
While the emotional feel of Run Maggie Run was all there in the initial recording, it wasn’t until Rees joined with several like-minded friends that the sound that would come to define RMR began to take shape.
With each member contributing a different style to the band, ranging from folk to electronica and from blues to prog-metal, Run Maggie Run emerged from its earliest days as a formidable musical force. Candid and fun, to loud and raucous, to soft and poignant, each performance is an emotional rollercoaster, and it is this heart-on-sleeve approach that has won over the heart of many fans in RMR’s 2 year existence.
Despite the band’s relatively short life, RMR has seen significant radio airplay via campus radio stations such as CFMU 93.3 (McMaster) and CFRC 101.9 (Queens University) as well as on Y108 via The Indie Show w/ Nick Cino, as well as making it to the finals in the Y108 Live Music Prize and receiving coverage from multiple music news outlets such as The View Mag, The Spill Mag, Ride the Tempo, and more.
The band makes its return to Hamilton after a series of successful shows around the Southern Ontario area alongside an incredible lineup, featuring the emotional storytelling and nuanced instrumentation of Toronto’s Long Range Hustle, fresh from their month-long residency at The Dakota Tavern. This is an All Ages event; doors will open at 8 PM, and those interested can purchase tickets online or at the door for $10; the tickets, and other details can be found via the Facebook event page, linked here, or via the contact information below."

The Casbah

The Casbah (located at the corners of King St West & Queen St North in the Central Neighbourhood of downtown Hamilton Ontario) opened it’s doors in January 2001. The debut event was none other than Seminal Pixies frontman Frank Black and his band the Catholics. The sold out concert was presented by the venue, and in association with a new local promoter who would one day become a more significant component to the Casbah as a live music club.
