Village Green: A Kinks Tribute for The Bruce Trail

EVENT DESCRIPTION

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the album The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society, a host of Hamilton musicians will perform the record from start to finish along with other Kinks favourites.

All proceeds will go to the Bruce Trail Conservancy to help with the preservation of the Fisher's Pond Nature Reserve through the purchase of 87 acres of Niagara Escarpment forest, meadow, and wetland near Waterdown, on the border between Hamilton and Burlington.

Long a cult favourite of music fans and critics, The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society mixes joy and nostalgia to imagine a bygone world of childhood friends, motorbike riders, wicked witches, and flying cats.  An innocent, hidden place full of the everday magic of small towns and green spaces.  A refuge and escape.  Like a walk in the woods.

If you aren't familiar with the album, give it a listen.  You'll be glad you did.

Doors open at 7pm, and the concert starts at 8.  Craft beer, wine, coffee, and tea will be available.  There will also be a silent auction with items including vinyl copies of The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society, Bruce Trail swag, a Bruce Trail waterfall hike, signed books by local authors, Baffin hiking boots, and bird watching gear.

Support for this concert is generously provided by National Bank Independent Network.
