SUBTITLED FILMS, 85m

The Hamilton Film Festival in partnership with ReelAbilities Toronto are proud to once again offer the Subtitled progrma for those who are hard of hearing, or deaf. A sign language interpreter will be on hand for opening and closing remarks. The theatre is "stadium" style, offering a clear view of the screen and subtitles. All films we be presented with sound and all are welcome to attend. The films are fantastic! 

Tragically Deaf, Maxx Corkindale, 2m, Australia

Paul is having a great day. He has a loving family, a good job, and enjoys life to the fullest. It’s a pity that the documentary crew following him doesn’t seem to see that.

Turning Ten, Jaylan Auf, 13m, Egypt / UK
Laima, Magdi and Nour their (nearly) ten year old daughter anxiously await a doctors appointment that is destined to change their lives forever.

Felicia and The Clown, Oliwia Siem, 20m, Poland
Who wouldn’t like a dad who earned his living as a clown, rather than working in some boring office? The reality though, wasn't so bright.

The Number, Manuela Gray, 14m, South Africa / UK
The Number is a short documentary film that looks at the myths and markings of South Africa's prison 'Number' gangs. The film, shot in graphic black and white, investigates the secret code spelt out and spoken across the bodies of the inmates. The film immerses its audience in the world of the Number gangs, their history, personal journeys, codes and body markings.

The Matter At Hand, Lee Foster, 15m, Canada
A locksmith seeking redemption enlists the help of a young woman, to pull off a daring heist.
Subtitled and some of the characters use sign language to communicate.

The Second, Mpumelelo Kheswa, 17m, South Africa
In the midst of political violence, a former freedom fighter must transport a pregnant woman to safety when her father fears for their lives.

Finding Harold, Katarzyna Kochany, 5m, Canada
An aging Jewish actor is grateful to be cast in a theatrical production, but he feels lost and unwanted among his college-aged castmates.

Filmmakers, travel to our event, from all over the world. We connect filmmakers and give them another voice. ​We celebrate the art of movie making from concept to completion. From the budding filmmaker to the pro, we are always working to move the film industry in Hamilton a little further each year! The event is a leader in the local film community, bringing industry development and quality networking opportunities throughout the year.
