Who You Know, Jake Horowitz, 107m, Canada

Cole, an aspiring screenwriter and recent film school grad, decides to write his most ambitious script to date by plotting out a whimsical, atmospheric, rom-com relationship with Haley, the daughter of his screenwriting idol, all in hopes of meeting her legendary father and getting a leg up in showbiz. But as Cole increasingly neglects his complex bond with his best friend Austin, rejecting his offer to be his writing partner in LA to focus on his movie-perfect relationship with Haley, he realizes he has written himself into a corner both morally and romantically. Cole is forced to admit that the non-scripted draft of his life is filled with complicated romantic feelings for Austin. Cole realizes that his charming rom-com relationship, while carefully crafted, was built on a lie, and no matter how much he wanted his story with Haley to be true, he can't continue churning out a fake tale and living a life ripped from a screen. Filled with insights into ambition, desire, regret, and closeted sexuality, Who You Know takes a comedic and oftentimes heartbreaking look at what it takes to succeed in art, life, and love in the modern world.
