Want to do your job search on your own but do it the right way? These 90 min Propeller workshops will give you the steps and tools to propel you into an active independent job search. Our new day long approach allows participants to select the workshops they choose that pertain to their interests and needs.

Who Should Attend?

Our Propeller Workshops are designed to meet the needs of experienced professionals, those in a position of responsibility and new graduates who are:

• Planning career transition

• Starting a business or thinking about business as an opportunity and need a job to support themselves while in transition.

• Interested in contributing more broadly to society and to make a living - The Millennial Dream

• In a job that does not fit

• Experiencing a toxic work environment

• Retiring and wondering what next?

• Recently finished school ...then what

Propeller workshops tell you how to do each stage but they are not designed to implement what you learn during each workshop. This day is designed for those who just want to have the right instructions so they can work on their own to get an effective search underway as soon as possible.

The Flight Plan For A Successful Job Search

Anyone who has just completed a job search will tell you that it is more difficult than any job they have ever done. A well planned strategic approach along with mental grit is critical to your success

In this workshop you will:

• Understand the steps in Career Aviator’s proven methodology for finding a career that fits you -- A job in which you will excel; highly value and love to do.

• Learn a series of strategies to stay strong through the challenging times that lie ahead in a job search.


The Destination - How to Design Your Future Career

Many job seekers try to fit themselves into job ads. It seldom works. Nearly 90% of jobs are gone before they are posted. In this competitive job market you cannot afford to stretch to fit an available job. Learn how to determine what career will propel your search to land the right job.

Job search success depends upon knowing what you will excel at; highly value and love doing. Successful job seekers create a powerful career life statement that drives all other parts of their job search including decision making between offers and position negotiation.

In this workshop you will learn a method for:

Pinpointing your strengths, core values, desires, personal qualities, influencers etc that you want to bring to your next job;

Creating a powerful career life statement

Pinpointing the jobs you want to target

Building an effective search strategy

Taxi To Take Off - Resumes That Get Interviews

1:15am -2:45 pm

Did you know that on average, hiring managers spend about 40 seconds screening a resume? In this workshop you will look at your resume through the lens of a hiring manager and leave knowing how to revise to be selected for interviews. 

In this workshop you will learn a method for:

• Analyze your current resume using our Career Aviators Resume Analyzer

• Learn how a master resume and cover letter can speed up your job search process

• Practice resume bullet writing by re-writing your resume bullets

• Learn a proven system for customizing your resume and cover letter to land an interview

Choosing The Runway - Position Negotiation

3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

Once you have been offered a job. Most employers expect you to negotiate your position. Optimal position negotiation comes when you know what you are looking for and how to ask for it in the right way.  

In this workshop you will learn:

1. When to talk about salaries

2. What you need to know to prepare for the negotiation

3. How to explore what is negotiable from the employers point of view

4. How to ask the right way

Getting Great Offers - Monthly Connection

Now that you have completed our propeller series you we invite you to a monthly meet up exclusive to the Career Aviator Community. This meet up is offered to focus on getting great offers for positions in which participants will excel, value highly and love to do. Admission is only $10.00 per evening.

Our mission is to provide funding to innovative youth leadership initiatives in Guelph, Ontario to strengthen the resilience of youth living in stressful life situations. We do this through the delivery of leading edge career management consultation services designed to advance the careers of our clients. We work weekly with clients, from across Canada, to find jobs in which they will excel, value highly and love to do. We see clients face to face in Toronto, Guelph, Hamilton, and Kitchener and by Skype, phone and email in all other regions.
